December 29:
Its been a rough day, I am not feeling to well; but with that comes the small moments today, that I am so thankful for. My oldest, almost 3 years old, held the gate open, at the bottom of the stairs today, while my youngest and myself walked through. After, he closed it. He helped me with breakfast, even closed the gate to the kitchen, while letting me know "gate needs to stay closed". He even listened to me when I said that cereal bowls stay on the table, and he returned the bowl back to the table. I guess this new technique might actually be working. Crossing my fingers that being a kind and caring person, means that my kids will be too.
December 30:
Thankful to finally see some of my military friends again. I missed them all while I was away. Its always so easy to slip right back into life with them. Its like we all just pick right back up where we left off, like we saw each other yesterday!
December 31:
Thankful that today is the last day of this project, and all that I have learned to be thankful for. Its not always the big obvious things (as some days are too rough), but sometimes its the small things that matter the most. I am so thankful for everyone who supported me through this year, and reminding what I can be, should be, and am thankful for. One month of giving thanks in November just is not enough to learn anything from. A full year, a journey of sitting down each night and thinking about the great, wonderful moments of the day and the almost impossible decent moments in the hard, uneventful days. I have been reminded that each hug, kiss, and word that someone gives time to you should be something you are thankful for. Those people are giving you the time that they value, and in that time they are sharing a piece of themselves with you. Don't forget to smile, keep your chin up while walking, and work hard for each and every goal you want to succeed in the day, month, year, or lifetime.
Thank you for joining me on this year long journey. I can't believe I am done. Is it really over? I guess it is.... until next year. Happy New Year Everyone!
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Give Thanks December, Week 4
December 22:
Thankful to be done with our Christmas shopping.
December 23:
Thankful for a wonderful day down in Balboa Park, while we checked out the train museum, and had some delicious Mexican food.
December 24:
Today is a day I am thankful for family and all my amazing friends. Its just been a wonderful day with so much to be thankful for.
December 25:
How am I not going to be thankful for my husband, and my two wonderful boys. Yes we all have those off days, and we question a lot; but I am thankful for all of the bad and all of the wonderful moments too. I am thankful that I can learn and grow as an individual to become a better wife and mother.
December 26:
Thankful that we were able to see Great Grandma Dolores today. The kids love seeing her, and I am sure she loves seeing the boys. Its always hard to see her as she is kind of in the middle of Cali, and a lot of family is either northern or southern. However, today we all got together and saw her. It was a ton of fun to hangout and let everyone play and chit chat. Wonderful and such an amazing experience to be thankful for.
December 27:
Thankful for one last full day in southern Cali. I hate saying goodbye, but its nice to see family and friends when I can. I am thankful to my in-laws who housed me for the month, and fed us all! We love you all so much, its hard to leave.
December 28:
Nothing beats your own bed, and your own pillow. Thankful to be home, safe and sound, the boys are a little off but playing pretty well, and the husband is being a champ for us all (as I am not feeling 100%).
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Give Thanks December, Week 1
December 1:
Thankful for a warm but cool day here in southern California, so we could be outside and helping grandma Pitcher plant the Poinsettias in the front.
December 2:
I always enjoy a wonderful dinner out here in there with family or friends. I am really thankful when my mother takes the boys and I out for sushi! Sushi is the one food I can not afford on our tight budget, and I often only have it when I come down here to visit. Thanks mom for some yummy sushi at my favorite sushi restaurant.
December 3:
The one thing I love and am soooo grateful and thankful for when I come to southern California, is that my father-in-law and sometimes mother-in-law make lunches and dinners for myself and the kids. I rarely have to make anything other then breakfast. Its just a nice break from the grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning up after.
December 4:
Excited and thankful for another etsy order! I am so lucky to have such amazing friends who are willing to take chances on me.
December 5:
Thankful for the real christmas tree my father-in-law purchased for everyone to enjoy. The boys are loving the "Chwistmas twreee". I am enjoying the wonderful smell too.
December 6:
Had to wait for its arrival to the shop, but after a long week, I am thankful to have my new sewing machine set up and ready to sew!
December 7:
I love, having a nephew, and I am so thankful that I get to hangout with him a lot this vacation.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Give Thanks November, Week 4
Nov. 22:
Thankful for a girls night out, even if it wasn't a perfect night, it was nice to get away from the kids and have some adult time.
Nov 23:
My father-in-law found a local train museum (well the beginning of it), and I am so thankful that he did. Both of the boys enjoyed roughly 30 minutes of train time, making all the cars go fast or slow. Lots of screaming "choo-choo" and "look, its Thomas" was happening.
Nov. 24:
Every time I get to hangout with my mom, it doesn't matter what we do, we find the most ridiculous or inexpensive ways to have fun. Thankful that I have a wonderful mother who is willing to be spontaneous and crazy with the boys and I.
Nov. 25:
So excited that I am able to re-do the binding on my first ever quilt, that I made my mother. Thankful that she loved it to death, and thats why I have it back, to re-do the binding! Yay for my first quilt, and laughing, loving, and admiring all the flaws and mistakes.
Nov. 26:
Thankful that I can invest some time, for myself, into a new facebook group called, "quilter pen pals". Now quilters from all over the world can join the group and get paired up with other members and exchange fabric, patterns, and quilting items. It will be a great adventure.
Nov. 27:
Thankful for my family, friends, and all the blessing around me.
Nov. 28:
Thankful for a quick errand out of the house without kids, as I was able to purchase a new sewing machine at an amazing price! YAY!!
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Nov. 8:
Thankful that I could have such amazing clients to make items for. I am enjoying all the new and unique items I get to make.
Nov 9:
Thankful for the random lady at the pond that came down and gave our boys several loafs of bread to feed the ducks. They were so happy, and it really just goes to show what wonderful people are still in the world.
Nov. 10:
Thankful for the simple crafty mind that I was blessed with; it makes making paper piecing patterns extremely easy.
Nov. 11:
Thankful for a slow day with lots of cuddles from the neighbors dog (who we are babysitting for a month). She really makes me feel appreciated, and loved.
Nov. 12:
Excited and thankful that I found a fabric swapping group! I can't wait to send out the first batch, and receive fabric too.
Nov. 13:
SOOOOOOO Thankful that I am NOT a thanksgiving/black Friday shopper. If we shop on Thanksgiving, thats tons of families and family members who wont be able to enjoy the time with each other. Thankful to those who boycott Thanksgiving day shopping.
Nov. 14:
Excited and thankful to have the chance to make a mom-to-be, a special baby quilt for their new bundle of joy. I really hope she likes it, and tonight I will finish up the binding so that it is ready to be delivered.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Thankful that today I can say Happy Birthday to my wonderful Mom, and know that I will get to see her in a few weeks. I hope she has a special, wonderful and amazing birthday! I love you so much Mom, and I really can not wait to see you!!
October 28:
Its been a crazy day with a lot of running around, but one thing I am thankful for is that I was able to get our appointments made and our cars tire rotated and balanced today. I know I have had those on my to do list for too long, CHECK!
Give Thanks,
Sarah
I needed a lot of interface for a few quilt projects... So, while at Joanns I was able to get an entire BOLT of interface and use a coupon on top of the already 40% off. So thankful that I was able to get over 40 yards of interface and save more money then I paid!!!!
October 23:
Thankful for the several hours of nap time (for the kiddos) today, because I was able to finish another section of my MA class, and took the section test and received 100!!!
October 24:
I am so thankful for our Friday Playgroup, it has turned into a wonderful group with some amazing moms and I am just feeling extra lucky to have all of them in my life and in my home each week!
October 25:
Well, woke up to our fire alarm screaming at us that it had a low battery, and noticed our power was out. Once we all woke up it was just too hot and stuffy in the house, so I have to say I am thankful for a small adventure for the day, of getting out and just going wherever.

Give Thanks October, Week 3
October 15:
Today I had to make a run to my favorite craft store to buy fabric for a client, that craft store is the ONLY place I know that sells a childhood candy I just love. Thankful that today, after a long day and week, I was able to grab myself a bag of those candies. YUM!
October 16:
Thankful that I finally finished these Christmas blocks, and I now can send them out to swap! YAY!
October 17:
Today I got to try a new sewing project. I have made car seat strap covers before, so those are nothing new, but the Tula/Ergo strap covers/suck pads are. I am thankful that a friend let me try them out, and make her some (she gave me all the material), and hopefully she loves them!
October 18:
I am so thankful for such an open and loving/caring group of wonderful woman (and men) who are willing to come out and share in our baby wearing/cloth diapering love! Its a great thing. I am finally feeling more at home here in Norther California.
October 19:
Potty training has not been easy in this house, but I am thankful that my son is getting back in to it. Crossing my fingers that he wants to potty train, and be a big boy!
October 20:
So thankful I finished the boys Halloween costumes. Totally was worried I would be up sewing them the night before Halloween!
October 21:
I am so thankful that my neighbors let us watch their little dog, Porsha, while they are on vacation; Porsha makes my day just that much better. She cuddles with me, and wants me to love on her, and when I stop she licks me and pretty much makes me love on her some more. I miss having dogs, and I am so lucky to have Porsha in my house, she is a loving, caring, and sweet little dog.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Give Thanks October, Week 2
October 8:
I am so thankful that my wonderful kiddos let me sit in the dinning room, while they played with toys and watched a movie, so that I could finish quilting and putting the front side of the binding on a door hanger for Halloween.
October 9:
Thankful that my wonderful husband had a few extra minutes to help me with a Halloween decoration, and get that sucker up! The kids love it, and keep saying "look mama, spider"!
October 10:
Had a precious moment with my two boys while putting them to bed tonight. Thankful that my boys love me enough to want to lay on their bedroom floor and look at glow in the dark stars, while they fall asleep next to me. Its a great feeling.
October 11:
Thankful that my husband was willing to watch the kids all day while I worked on school work. It was so nice to catch up to where I wanted to be in the class, but also know that my husband is a very helpful Dad.
October 12:
Thankful that one of my new friends was kind enough to give us a cloth diaper to try, and it has been such a difference. My son seems happier, and loves all the colors and designs. Its a great feeling knowing he likes to put them on.
October 13:
Thankful that we could get out of the house and enjoy some time walking around a few stores and our kids seemed to enjoy it too. They really only threw a fit when we had to leave the toy store. However, it was easy to distract them with the chickens running around in the parking lot.
October 14:
Thankful that, when my oldest son stole my phone today, that he texted his Dad and not a client or someone I just met. It made for a great laugh, and even his Dad had a nice life while at work.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Give Thanks October, Week 1
October 1:
Thankful that today I got to meet my very first client! I am so excited to be working out of my home and with other military families. I am so thankful for this opportunity.
October 2:
Today I am thankful for caffeine. Yep, it was a tough day that did not go anywhere near what I planned. So, thankfully I had my early morning caffeinated drink, a mid afternoon one (before appointments), and a late afternoon one (because I was so tired, I didn't even want to make dinner). Now I am enjoying some hot tea with lemon, and enjoying the fact that Friday is almost here!
October 3:
Thankful again this Friday, that our baby sign/play date is going so well. I am starting to really enjoy each and every mom who comes. Hopefully it gets a little bigger!
October 4:
Thankful today that I could check out a goodwill store for the first time, and find not one but TWO pieces of fabric! YAY!!
October 5:
Today was a great day to be thankful for such an amazing group of ladies/moms. I got to be apart of a world record of baby wearing. It was a ton of fun!
October 6:
The kids protested naps today, so I am thankful that the sky was blue and it was an awesome 80 degrees out. We had a wonderful walk to the shopette and grabbed some juices.
October 7:
Thankful that I was able to take my youngest to see a doctor today, as we needed to get an update with everything going on with him. Its been a long few months with a horrible rash (poor guy just looks miserable and in pain all the time).
Give Thanks,
Sarah

September Give Thanks, Week 4
September 22:
Thankful that I get to try a new paper piecing pattern and give it a review! Its so exciting.
September 23:
Thankful that I get to start school today. Now I get to see if age helps or doesn't help me!
September 24:
Thankful for a wonderful group of mommys that motivated me to get out of the house with the kids and send a afternoon at the pumpkin farm! Not only was it a ton of fun, but the kids passed out as soon as I put them in their car seats. It was a great adventure.
September 25:
We all need a little help every once in awhile, we all need someone to talk to, and we should always seek help when we know something isn't quite right. I am thankful that today I took just 30 minutes to talk with someone (not related and doesn't know me) and it really helped open my mind to so many fresh, clean, beautiful thoughts. I am a mom and I don't often take any time for me, so today was nice. 30 minutes may not seem like a lot, but it was probably the nicest 30 minutes I have had in weeks!
September 26:
Thankful for such amazing group of growing friends! I am so happy that I can meet such wonderful moms here in California. Its always hard to find/meet friends, so when we do, its just a wonderful thing!
September 27:
I am so thankful that I have time in my life to enjoy such a hobby as quilting. I find new and creative quilts to try and for the years that I have been doing it, I am still discovering new quilts to try! Its such a great hobby!
September 28:
I just love a fun day at the park with my husband and kids, it really reminds me how thankful I am to have them in my life.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

September Give Thanks, Week 3
September 15:
Thankful that my husband was willing to spend a little extra money out of our budget for a night out for dinner. It was so nice to have a REAL meal, made for us and I didn't have to clean up or do the dishes.
September 16:
The greatest moment today was when my boys tried hopscotch for the first time. I am so thankful they are willing to try new things, laugh and enjoy it too. Its a ton of fun to watch them experience new things.
September 17:
Its nice to get out of the house and go do something new and different. Today, I am thankful that our housing company put together a slip and slide event and the boys enjoyed running around and playing.
September 18:
SOOOOO thankful for my husband surprising me with a starbucks run today! OMG, I sooo needed it. Its been a hard, long, exhausting week for both of us and he was just so freakin awesome to do that for us both! Love that man to death. Thanks babe!
September 19:
I am so thankful that I am finally (after a year of being at Beale AFB), I am meeting a few more moms, and hanging out with new people!! So thankful for new friends and new mom friends at that!!
September 20:
Thankful today that as a family, we were all able to get up and have a random dance party in our livingroom. Our oldest son kept saying, "Come on mom/dad, dance, dance mom/dad dance, come on..." It was a ton of fun! Tomorrow, we dance again!
September 21:
Thankful that I can keep in touch with family, even when its negative or positive information. I am so happy that we can have this technology and have the ability to be so connected to everyone's lives.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

September Give Thanks, Week 2
September 8:
Thankful for a reschedule of my school appointment for later in the day, it worked out well. The hubby watched the kids and I was able to get everything done. Now I hope and cross my fingers that everything goes according to plan and I start school on time!
September 9:
Today I am so very, very thankful for my wonderful sister who was able to fax a few papers for me. I needed to send them for school, and I could not find any information or places here on base that could send a fax. Then my sister did all of the heavy lifting for me! So, so, soooo thankful for her!
September 10:
Thankful for so many quilters/friends who helped me and gave me a ton of feed back about a baby quilt I have been working on. It has made the quilt and process so much easier as well as satisfying. Knowing that the quilt is more appealing to the eye, means that the person who is going to receive it will love it just that much more (I hope).
September 11:
Today as we all take a moment to remember those who lost their lives, many years ago; I am finding some bright joy in between all this sadness. Today I am thankful to have received my acceptance into the SDSUs Medical Assistant, with externship, certificate program!! Ill be back in school before the month is over.... a little scary!
September 12:
Today I was reminded why having kids is a roller-coaster ride no matter what. While the kids were in their bath, Brian was upset because the bubbles were popping, and Jared was laughing at all the bubbles and enjoyed putting them on his head. I am just so thankful that I can find those small moments of just pure joy on one childs face and overly dramatic moment on another. They are my life, and someday I hope I can tell them this story and they will be thankful that I remembered it.
September 13:
Today I am so thankful for such a wonderful blessing, from a fellow quilter friend (Lynn), who took the time and her own money to send me a TON of brand new zippers!! She has the biggest heart, and I hope I can be just as giving and caring as her. She made my day, week and month!
September 14:
Today is one of those days where I am thankful we all survived. We ran a ton of errands, did a ton of grocery shopping, and when it was all said and done, I think everyone was tired... Kids and adults!
Give Thanks,
Sarah

September Give Thanks, Week 1
September 1:
Thankful for a very long, quiet nap today. I honestly needed every second of it, because of this horrible sickness.
September 2:
Even if its 10 minutes, I am still thankful for those 10 minutes of adult time I get. I always need some adult conversation, here and there, so I don't feel like I'm going crazy!
September 3:
Thankful that while out in public today (which is rare these days), BOTH of my kids were amazing! No tantrums, no crying, and only a 5 second upset when I took away some ribbon from Brian, who shouldn't have grabbed it in the first place. It was a great, well needed, adventure OUTSIDE the house.
September 4:
Fruits and vegetables, oh how thankful I am today to have some FRESH fruit and veggies!! Our budget has been tight, and I have been slowly buying only what I need, but today I NEEDED an apple, so I got one! I really really am thankful for it.
September 5:
Thankful today to have our master bedroom quilt TOP done!! Yay. Now I just need to find the money to buy batting and the back.... yeah, that might take a minute. BUT the tops done!
September 6:
Thankful today for a small family bike ride. Its always nice to get a little workout in with a family activity. Plus I get to use my new bike.
September 7:
Thankful for a decent dinner meal. I know it sounds silly, but when the budget is tight, you eat a lot of the same foods over and over again. Tonight, I made delicious tacos... yum, and yum!
Give Thanks,
Sarah
