See more pictures at Pitcher's Boutique FB Page.

So thankful for the cooler weather, not the rain, just the cold air. I love snuggling in a quilt, with my tea, and watching a Holiday movie with the kiddos.

Nov. 4:
Thankful that I finished the MA portion of my class, and got an 86% on my final! Now on to the EKG portion of the class.

Nov. 5:

Thankful for the little extra few coins and random change in my purse, house and my car. It helped me get a REALLY WELL NEEDED coffee from starbucks, while I drove around to get my kids to nap, because they are not sleeping well, thanks to being sicks, and are on nap strike...... HELP!!!

Nov. 7:
Can't thank all my friends enough for spending this wonderful Friday at my house for a play date! I am so thankful for each and every new mom, and old moms I see and get to know. Its crazy how much my life has changed, and how many new friends I have truly been blessed with.

September Give Thanks, Week 3

September 15:
Thankful that my husband was willing to spend a little extra money out of our budget for a night out for dinner. It was so nice to have a REAL meal, made for us and I didn't have to clean up or do the dishes.

September 16:
The greatest moment today was when my boys tried hopscotch for the first time. I am so thankful they are willing to try new things, laugh and enjoy it too. Its a ton of fun to watch them experience new things.

September 17:
Its nice to get out of the house and go do something new and different. Today, I am thankful that our housing company put together a slip and slide event and the boys enjoyed running around and playing.

September 18:
SOOOOO thankful for my husband surprising me with a starbucks run today! OMG, I sooo needed it. Its been a hard, long, exhausting week for both of us and he was just so freakin awesome to do that for us both! Love that man to death. Thanks babe!

September 19:

Thankful today that as a family, we were all able to get up and have a random dance party in our livingroom. Our oldest son kept saying, "Come on mom/dad, dance, dance mom/dad dance, come on..." It was a ton of fun! Tomorrow, we dance again!

September 21:
Thankful that I can keep in touch with family, even when its negative or positive information. I am so happy that we can have this technology and have the ability to be so connected to everyone's lives.

August Give Thanks, Week 4

August 22:
I am so thankful today to have experienced a new place (Children's Museum, in Rancho Cordova) for free, and the kids LOVED it. The children's museum was full of hands on fun, and the kids enjoyed touching, playing, painting, throwing, getting wet, and just running around. I can't thank my friend Paula enough for all the amazing places she has introduced me to.

August 23:
I am so thankful that my husband has his bike back up and running, and we were able to go out for a small bike ride. It was so much fun and I never realized how much I like riding my bike.

August 24:
Thankful today for my family who checked in on us to make sure we were okay. Napa/San Fran had a huge 6.0 earthquake and thankfully we did not feel anything and we did not have any damages. I am thinking about all the families and friends who are in that area and may have had some damage. You all are in our thoughts. Stay safe.

August 25:
Thankful today for a little afternoon coffee. Yum yum, and it was well needed because the kids protested nap time.

August 26:
Spent the afternoon in the ER with my youngest after he had an allergic reaction. Thankful for my wonderful mother and husband who help make me feel like I was doing the right thing, even if I wasn't.

August 27:
After spending yesterday in the ER with my youngest, I needed some me time. I spent most of the day cleaning up my craft room and trying to get the room back in functioning order. I am thankful that I was able to spend some time cleaning and relaxing with my crafts. For crafters out there, you understand; its like a yoga studio to a yoga instructor, or a soccer field to a soccer star, etc. Its just my piece of heaven.
Before I moved everything around.

Folding partying, and color organizing all my fabric.

Half way done.

Another angle of the half way done.
August 28:
Another visit to the ER today, this time it was my oldest son after he smashed his nose into the table. Thankful today that he did not break it, or need stitches, just some glue. Made me appreciate the small things today. I am just so thankful his nose wasn't broken and that my husband was there to help hold his hand (and mine).
Before the ER, this is after I cleaned up the blood.

Glued face and lots of bruising starting.
Give Thanks,
Sarah

Soap Cloth

While cleaning the kitchen the other day, I noticed all the soap that was ending up all over the sink and counter top. I can not stand a mess like that. I thought about making a pad for the soaps and tools to sit on, but I wanted something absorbent. I decided I would make a quilted cloth that I could place under all the soap containers and tools. That way, when they get dirty I can just toss it in the wash and clean it up without even thinking about the mess.

To start, I decided I wanted to do some chevron design. I also have a coffee theme in my kitchen and I had left over fabric from when I made the appliance covers, so I decided to use that and a bunch of coordinating fabrics.

I then decided on how I wanted to make the chevrons and started to cut the fabric.

I decided 3 inch squares would be small enough, but also large enough. I then place right sides together with two squares, and then continued to do that until I had nothing left.

I then took my ruler and drew 2 lines down the center. If you don't have this tool you can draw a line down the center from one point to the other, and then sew 1/4 inch to the left and right of that line.

Now I have my lines, all I do is sew along those lines.

Take your pile of squares over to the sewing machine and sew along the lines, or if you have a line down the center then 1/4 inch from the center line.

You can chain piece these together (meaning sew one block, after another).

Then turn them around and sew the other line or side. Chain piecing if you would like.

All done.

Now take the squares over to your cutting board, and place your ruler down the center of the two stitched lines. Cut the two triangles apart.

You should now have something like this. Continue doing this until all your blocks are triangles.

Take all the squares over to the ironing board and press the seams open. (If you prefer to press to one side feel free).

This is my seam, pressed open.

I then lay out the design I want to do. You can play around and decide on whatever works for you. I had about 3 different ideas, but decided on this.

I then sewed each small block together in twos.

Again, pressing my seams open.

Then take two of those blocks and sew them into a row.

Continue doing this until all your rows are sewn together.

Now take each row and CAREFULLY pin each seam together. This will make sure the points all match.

Press the seams open.

And now you have one zig zag done.

I placed my two different zig zags together and sewed them into one large block.

I then added two end pieces to give the piece a little more detail and fun. Notice, I made my zig zags face each other, but you can flip them, so they all go one direction.

My piece was long, but I wanted to make sure it was square. I added a few inches of brown fabric to frame the zig zags.

I then lay the front zig zag on top of quilting batting and place the terry cloth fabric (which is my back). I cut my back and batting larger then my front, by about 1/2 inch - 1 inch all the way around. That way if it shifts I don't have to worry about cutting any of the front off.

I then use my walking foot, and quilt the design I want to use.

Trim off the extra batting and terry cloth/back fabric, and square up the piece.

Then add your binding.

Once you have your binding on, sew the binding onto the back. You can machine sew it or just finish it by hand sewing. I like hand sewing.

Then you have the finished product!

I then placed my soap cloth on top of a cake stand and placed all my soaps and tools on top of the cloth.

The look is awesome, and really makes it so much easier to clean up spilled soap. I love that all my kitchen scrubbing brushes and drain covers are off the counter and sink. It makes the sink feel clean.

I hope you all feel a little inspired by this mini project.

Keep It Clean,
Sarah

June 8:
Today I am extremely thankful for my amazing husband and wonderful kids, as well as my amazing friends and family. Its my birthday, and I have been spoiled beyond being spoiled! I got new running shoes (well over due, my old shoes were about 5 years old), I got fabric for our master bedroom, my in-laws sent me a gift card and a fabric piece, and lastly I went out to dinner with my husband and two kiddos at a sushi restaurant! SPOILED!!! It was one of the best birthdays, I loved every second of it!

New shoes!!

Fabric!!!

My little man and I before dinner!

June 11:
Today I am seriously thankful for the change in my purse! I was able to enjoy a little starbucks because of all the change I carry around (not to mention I needed to drive around because Jared wouldn't nap...) but anyways, still thankful for all the extra quarters, dimes, and nickles! Hey, a mom needs her coffee fix, don't judge me!

June 12:
Thankful beyond thankful for how great my husband and I are doing on our "budget". Its been tough and extremely challenging, but today we spent HALF of what we usually spend on groceries, yay! Go us!

June 13:
I am in love with the millions of cuddles my youngest son gives me. Especially today, I am so thankful for each and every one of them. We can never forget these small very mini moments. These are the moments I want to remember forever.
